Wilderness, a 40-year journey in the making

When we first started our pioneering collective, it was based upon a single, vital idea – that by saving the world's wild places, we could ultimately save ourselves. From our humble beginnings with two young guides, a vehicle and a couple of tents, we found our feet in the magical soil of Botswana's Okavango Delta.

Over time, we expanded our vision well beyond Southern Africa to the open vistas and rarities of Kenya, the mist-shrouded peaks of Rwanda’s mountains and most recently, the mega-herds of Tanzania. With our own airline, Wilderness Air we were able to connect more people to our iconic destinations, while gaining fresh perspectives. And all along the way we pioneered sustainability practices and nurtured environmental education programmes, illuminating the way for a greener future.

From a playful youngster to a serious leader in conservation hospitality, we look back with pride, and forward with renewed hope. To a brighter future, where nature has its say. A future dedicated to upliftment and returns, with a pledge to protect, explore, and increase Earth’s last remaining untamed realms. We’ve always had our sights set on the horizon, dreaming about what the future may hold, but now more than ever, we can’t wait to see where the next way-points in our Wilderness journey lead.
