Why choose Zimbabwe for a honeymoon safari

With three safari camps located in private concessions in Zimbabwe’s iconic Hwange National Park, and a further three seasonal camps in Mana Pools National Park, Wilderness is able to offer access to some of Zimbabwe’s best safari areas.

Look forward to sparkling wine at golden hour on the legendary Ngamo Plains, walking safaris or canoeing together in Mana Pools, and cultural and community experiences that strengthen your bond. Remote yet thoughtfully appointed, with designs that brings the outside in, your Zimbabwean honeymoon at any of our safari camps combines comfort, privacy, and elegance.

A honeymoon safari in Zimbabwe is easily combined with a wild adventure in Botswana, or Zambia with a visit to the Victoria Falls from Wilderness Toka Leya just outside of Livingstone, where we are able to combine your safari with a visit to this natural world wonder, for a honeymoon like no other.

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time for a honeymoon safari in Zimbabwe?

Peak safari season in Zimbabwe is during the dry winter months from May to October, when wildlife viewing is at its best as animals gather around shrinking water sources. Our safari camps in Mana Pools are only open during these dry months and are able to offer exciting honeymoon adventures such as walking safaris and canoeing along the Zambezi River. From November to April, the green season brings lush scenery, newborn animals, predators, and excellent birding, with our safari camps in Hwange National Park open year round.

What romantic experiences are available in Zimbabwe?

Our safari camps in Zimbabwe offer plenty of romantic activities to enjoy on your honeymoon. Beyond the typical game drive, you can embark on a guided walking safari together, cuddle up on a night drive, or spend time at a hide where elephants and other wildlife come and go just metres away. In Mana Pools, couples can also explore together by canoe, enjoy a sunset river cruise or even try your hand at catch and release fishing together. Our Star Beds in both Hwange National Park and Mana Pools National Park allow you to enjoy a truly magical night, sleeping out beneath a blanket of stars – the ultimate honeymoon experience.

How private are the camps in Zimbabwe?

Our Zimbabwe safari camps are set within vast, uncrowded wilderness areas, where guest numbers are kept deliberately low to ensure privacy and exclusivity. Our biggest safari camps in Zimbabwe have just 9 or 10 suites, while even more intimate options are available – for instance Wilderness Little Ruckomechi in Mana Pools, which accommodates just six guests in three suites. All our camps are unfenced and positioned to take full advantage of the sweeping views, with animals frequently passing through camp. The result is a deeply personal safari experience where it often feels like you have the wild entirely to yourselves.
