Cape Town Touring, in conjunction with Cape Town Helicopters, offers a variety of limited, curated flights, exclusive to Wilderness guests so that you can discover the city as you’ve never seen it before. Hop on board as we take to the skies to experience the beauty of South Africa’s Mother City.
Two Oceans Helicopter Flight, City Tour and Catamaran
The Wilderness touring team will collect you from your hotel and transfer you to the Waterfront Hanger of Cape Town Helicopters. From here, depart on a scenic Two Oceans Helicopter Flight along the coastline (approx. 25 min flight). From here we continue in our luxurious Touring vehicle to the Table Mountain Lower Cableway Station. 1,067m above sea level, Table Mountain affords bird’s-eye views of both the city and the famed Peninsula, as you explore its summit. We return to the city via the old Cape Malay Quarter.
After lunch, we take a walk through the Company Gardens, a fresh produce garden for ships and locals from the mid-17th century, and now home to the SA Museum, Houses of Parliament, National Gallery and St. George’s Cathedral. From there we drive to the Castle, South Africa’s oldest building, with its large collection of Old Cape paintings. We’ll take in the nearby Grand Parade, where Nelson Mandela addressed the nation on his release in 1990. Thereafter we return to the Waterfront where you will embark on a relaxing Catamaran Sunset Cruise, the perfect end to a day.
Cape Point Scenic Helicopter Flight, Miller’s Point Foraging & Picnic, ending with a Cape Point Tour
After collection from your hotel, you will be transferred to the Waterfront Hanger of Cape Town Helicopters where you will depart on a scenic helicopter trip to the Cape of Good Hope. View the Cape Peninsula from all angles before flying along the Atlantic seaboard, around Cape Point towards Miller’s Point – a truly unforgettable experience. Here you will be met by your guide and will join a seaside foraging experience, where you will learn how to harvest various seaweeds, and have the opportunity to taste a spread of ocean-inspired delicacies.
In the afternoon, we continue in a Touring vehicle to the Cape of Good Hope section of Table Mountain National Park, with its unique Cape fynbos vegetation and birds like African black oystercatchers and Cape sugarbirds, as well as some very special fauna including Cape mountain zebra, bontebok (both endemic) and the charismatic chacma baboon. Climb (or ride the world’s first environmentally friendly funicular) to the famous Cape Point Lighthouse to capture the magical vistas of False Bay.
En route back to your hotel, we visit the Boulders Beach penguin colony, and then head home through the historic naval village of Simonstown and over scenic Boyes Drive, taking in the views of the fishing harbour at Kalk Bay and the seaside havens of St James and Muizenberg.
