When to go on a bird watching safari tour in Namibia?

 

The summer months in Namibia (roughly November to March) are particularly appealing for birders, as migratory species from Europe and Asia arrive, breeding plumage brings vibrant colours to the bush and the landscapes. This is an excellent time to enjoy the rich birdlife around our concessions and you can also enjoy a less crowded safari experience with more favourable rates; just be sure to pack for the heat.

 

What is the best place in Namibia to spot birds?

 

Wilderness has camps in the Damaraland and Sossusvlei regions, which are some of the best safari destinations in Namibia for bird watching, especially if you want to see vultures, raptors and desert species such as the endemic dune lark. Further north, around Wilderness Serra Cafema, which lies on the Kunene River, water-loving bird species like the goliath heron or water thick-knee may be seen.
