Frequently asked questions

When is the best time for a honeymoon safari in Kenya?

One of the most popular times to visit Kenya is during the season of the Great Migration (June–October) when the Masai Mara delivers its famously dramatic river crossings. That said, for those looking for a more private honeymoon experience with lower rates, the period from November through March is an excellent time to visit, with lush landscapes, dramatic skies and migratory birds.

How private are the camps?

Wilderness Mara, Wilderness’ only safari camp in Kenya, is located in a more secluded area of the famous Masai Mara National Reserve, with limited guest numbers, and restrictions on vehicles at sightings. The camp has just twelve suites, ensuring exclusivity, while private vehicles can also be booked at an additional cost.

How do I customise a honeymoon itinerary?

Every itinerary with Wilderness is fully bespoke, with your Travel Designer working directly with you to combine safari regions and arrange transfers, partner lodges, and experiences that match your interests. Your honeymoon can include multiple safari regions in Kenya, or you may even choose to combine your Kenyan honeymoon with a trip to Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park, or a gorilla trekking experience in Rwanda, with all end-to-end details seamlessly arranged by Wilderness.
